Selazar Pick-n-pack

An interactive, gamified product demo developed in Unity for Selazar, transforming a real-world warehouse fulfilment process into an engaging exhibition experience.

A fast-paced, gamified exhibition experience built for London ExCeL

We designed and developed Pick-n-Pack, a competitive interactive experience created for Selazar’s exhibition stand at the London ExCel Centre in 2022.

Inspired by the frantic fun of a supermarket sweep, visitors raced around the physical exhibition stand scanning items as quickly as possible. Their completion times were recorded on a live leaderboard, with the fastest competitors winning prizes.

The result combined game development, mobile technology and a physical exhibition space to turn a trade show stand into a playable experience.

Turning an exhibition stand into a game

Pick-n-Pack was designed to encourage visitors to explore the stand rather than simply watch a demonstration.

Players used an Android device to race around the exhibition space, finding and scanning a series of physical items. The challenge was simple: successfully scan everything and complete the pick-and-pack run in the fastest possible time.

This created an immediately understandable competitive experience that could be played in just a few minutes, making it well suited to the fast-moving environment of a busy trade show.

Live leaderboards and competition

Competition was a key part of the experience. Player results were recorded using Firebase and displayed on a live leaderboard, giving visitors a reason to compare scores, challenge colleagues and try to claim the fastest time.

The leaderboard also enabled the experience to run as a competition throughout the event, with prizes awarded to top-performing players.

Tools for the team behind the stand

Alongside the player-facing experience, we developed a React-based web application for exhibition staff.

The staff-facing system provided access to competition results and player information, allowing the team to review completion times, manage the competition and capture participant details during the event.

Together, the Android game, Firebase backend and React web interface formed a complete system designed specifically around the requirements of a live exhibition environment.

Event gamification and interactive experiences

Pick-n-Pack demonstrates how game design can be applied to physical spaces, exhibitions and brand activations.

By combining a simple competitive game loop with real-world interaction, live data and event technology, we transformed an exhibition stand into an experience visitors could actively participate in.

Whitepot Studios designs and develops bespoke interactive experiences, exhibition games, gamified applications and event technology, using our background in game development to create memorable ways for audiences to interact with products, brands and physical spaces.
